The 6 in the serial would stand for 1996.

The first year they released the Fatboy was 1997 which would have a serial # of ACM6Gxxxxx. Before they released the Fatboy they had a prototype which is pictured on page 4 posted by dcbmx. Re: How about a Specialized thread!!! Here is what I will share. The one on the left is the lowest know serial # around and on the right is the team. The second is a 1998 A1, and the third is a 1998.5 or 99 Chromo.

If you look at the pics I am posting it is pretty easy to see the changes of the decals each year. The look of the Fatboy changed a ton in 1999-2000. I am guessing the last letter in the serial # is the month it was producde. To the best of my knowledge the Letter A in the serial stands for A1 which is the model. The next year in 1998 would have a serial # of ACM7Dxxxxx. Well, I'd like a we site or someplace where I can actually find out serial #s, if you don't mind giving out the info, I understand you use to race them, that's cool, but I would personally like to know for my own interests

Funny, they have still not posted on this thread, I'm not saying any names nor pointing fingers, they know who they are. It has come to my attention that we have two(or maybe more) people on this site that obviously know more about Specialized than the rest of us.
